Learn How To Avoid Being Ripped Off By The Lock Scammers

Note: We don't provide Emergency Locksmith Services!! We leave that to the SCAMMERS!!

All locksmith services are provided by appointment ONLY No Exceptions!!

The only way to protect you from falling prey form the Locksmith Scammer is knowledge.  I am going to teach you everything you need to know to avoid being scammed by the locksmith.

Once you know and understand how the locksmith scammers operate you will be able to avoid them altogether and never have to worry about being scammed.

The first thing you have to know is what is a Locksmith Scam even mean.  Sadly not all locksmiths are honest hard working people.  In most states the locksmith does not have to be licensed by the state in order to provide locksmith services to the general public.  So the states that don’t require locksmiths to be licensed is where the SCAMMERS set up shop.

The scammer spends thousands of dollars each month on advertising to insure their company will pop up first with all search engine applications.  This includes cell phone searches.  Your cell phone knows your exact location.  When you do a search for a locksmith you fill find all kinds of results.  You can guarantee the one’s at the top of the list are SCAMMERS.  This is because they are preying on you when you search for a locksmith.  The only types of locksmith customers they are targeting are people who are in need of an Emergency locksmith.  They have locked their keys inside of their vehicle or home.  Or lost their keys.

The scams work this way.  You do a search on the Internet for a locksmith in your area.  You call the number that is listed on the Internet search results.  You are given a local number t call.  This gives you the allusion that you are calling someone local.  In most cases that is not the case.  You are actually calling a call center located in a different state.  They will answer the phone with a generic sounding name like locksmith or locksmith services.  You explain you situation to them and they tell you a service technical will call you right back.  When you ask them the price to come out they will quote you a very low price like 20 or 25 dollars to come out.  Then you ask them is that the total cost they say No the service technician will tell you the actual cost once he/she comes out and completes the job.  And they always tell you they have a service technician in the area and can come to your location within a few minutes.

At first you are so excited you are getting a locksmith to come to your location in a few minutes and it is going to cost you a low price.  So you tell them to have the service technician call you and come out.

What is actually happening in the background that you have no idea of.  Is the call center you just called is searching his database for a scammer in your area.  Now the fun begins.  The so called service technician calls you back in a few minutes and he/she will have a very heavy middle eastern accent.  They are usually from Israel.  You are now entered into the world of the locksmith scammer.  He/she will tell you they are only a few minutes away and they charge a trip fee of 20 or 25 dollars to come out and take care of your emergency locksmith needs.

They are never only a few minutes away.  I have heard of cases where the customer has waiting 3 or 4 hours for the locksmith to show up.  When they arrive they tell you some stupid story that your locks are high security and they can’t be picked open so without even trying they reach for the drill and destroy your locks.  They do this because they know if they drill out your locks you have to purchase new locks.  They install junk locks on your doors and charge for 10 times the going rate for the locks.

Usually they arrive in an unmarked car not a well-marked locksmith truck or van.

You are wonder why did they drill out your locks and they never once even tried to pick the lock open or find any other method of gaining entry into the location without having to destroy the locks.  Any professional locksmith will tell you the absolute last choice is to drill out the locks.  A professional locksmith has several method of gaining entry into a location that will not damage any of your property.

The same is true with your vehicle.  If you leave your keys inside your vehicle the professional locksmith can gain entry into your vehicle without causing your vehicle any damage.  The scammer will play games with your and charge you hundreds of dollars to open your vehicle.  In the event you actually lose your key to your vehicle they will destroy your vehicle cost you hundreds of dollars to repair.

Now I will teach you How to protect yourself from ever being ripped off by the locksmith scammers.

The first thing you need to do is make sure you have a few spare house keys and a few spare keys for your vehicle.  Hide a spare key outside your house.  In the event you are locked out you can always get your spare key and gain entry into your home and it will not cost you a penny.

The same is true with your vehicle.  Make sure to always have a spare key attached to your vehicle in a magnetic lock box or some other hiding place.  Vehicle keys have a new problem that you must be made aware.  Almost every vehicle made after 2000 has some type of anti thief system on them called a transponder or a chip key.

I can’t tell you how important it is to always make sure you have two keys that will start your vehicle.  In a lot of the cases if you lose your only working transponder chip key it will cost you hundreds of dollars to get a new key made for your vehicle.

All this can be avoided just by having a spare key on the vehicle that you can access in the event you locked your keys in the vehicle or your lost your only working transponder chip key.

Remember the scammers are out there for one reason to rip you off for as much money as they can.  They can be nasty to you if you don’t pay the huge bill they give you.  They will always tell you if you don’t pay they will call the police.  If they do that tell them no need to call the police because you have already done so.  I guarantee you they will jump in their vehicle and drive off as fast as possible.   This is because most of them are in this country illegally and can’t afford to be arrested by the police.  They will be deported back to their home country.

Now transponder chip keys can be very expensive.  Here is my suggestion.  Have your local locksmith make you a spare metal key that will only open the door.  Then you hide your expensive transponder chip key inside the vehicle.  In the event you are locked out or lost your keys you will be able to open you vehicle and drive off.  All of this is done with never having to call a locksmith out to assist you.

The best thing you can to is to be proactive instead of reactive.  The scammer is working hard to get you when you are reactive.  That is not the time to go locksmith shopping.  You will get scammed every time.

The best piece of information I can give you is to find a local locksmith in your area and strike up a good working relationship with he/she.  Put the new locksmith phone number in your cell phone.  In the event you ever need a locksmith just call your newfound friend Joe Locksmith.  That the best thing you can do to protect yourself from the scammers.  Remember it’s not If you are going to need a locksmith its only a matter of when.  Now that you have protected yourself you can rest easy knowing you will never be scammed by anyone.
